Arthritis and Hemp Oil

One of the common issues that hemp oil and extract address is arthritis. The most common types are
rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis (OA) is caused from the breaking down of cartilage through normal wear and tear on our bodies as we age. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder. and your immune system attacks the synovium tissue in joints. This attack produces a fluid that nourishes the cartilage and lubricates the joints. Over time RA will invade and destroy the joint, bone and cartilage.

When Given Choice, Patients Choose Cannabis

We feel bad for Shannon, the amount of pain she’s constantly in is heartbreaking. The truly hurtful part is the doctors and medical professionals who won’t suggest cannabidiol as a replacement or supplement to some of these drugs. In testimonial after testimonial and study after study cannabidiol is chosen by patients over opioids.

CBD Testing Info

Drug test

A lot of times while we’re out, we’re asked “but can I pass a drug test?”. Our answer is yes because drug tests look for THC and not the other cannabinoids found in cannabis. Well a buddy of mine has done a little experiment and is results are below.

Before I first tried CBD I had not used a cannabis product in over 6 months. I’ve been wanting to try CBD to see if there was any benefit but I was worried about failing a drug test. I decided to do a little experiment using home testing strips. I’ve used these strips in the past to test how long it takes me to get clean after visiting a legal state and they’ve always seemed pretty accurate.

A couple months ago I bought some 1000mg isolate and used various doses 100mg, 200mg, 400mg on different days and I would test my urine the following days after dosing. With this isolate I passed every urine test.

A few weeks ago I bought some 1000mg full spectrum and used the same doses 100mg, 200mg, and 400mg all 1 week apart. The 100mg I failed the urine test the following day but was clean 3 days later. At 200 mg I failed the tests for 5 days. At 400mg I failed for over a week before finally having a clean test.

Both the isolate and the full spectrum were taken sublingual. Unfortunately the full spectrum makes my piss dirty so I’ll have to avoid it.

Hemp and Autism

Parents who have a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) face many challenges to get the world to see their beautifully brilliant child. For some, they’ve been touting the use of cannabis to help with ASD symptoms such as restlessness, rage attacks, speech impediment, agitation and anxiety. Recently research coming out of Israel has supported those claims. Check out the article below to find out more about cannabis and ASD.

Fibromyalgia and Hemp Oil

Sgt. Bud was out at an event and a fibromyalgia patient came up and said “oh you have CBD products, you don’t have to tell me about it. I have fibromyalgia and this is the first time I’ve been out in months” ; later in the conversation we found out that the lady made jewelry and hadn’t been able to sell in a few months due to symptoms related to fibromyalgia. That got us wondering how does hemp oil/CBD actually help relieve issues related to fibromyalgia. We found a video from a medical doctor who has fibromyalgia and uses CBD to help with symptoms and we found some websites with studies available.

Some ways how hemp oil/CBD helps relieve fibromyalgia symptoms

  • Anti Inflammatory
  • Anti Anxiety
  • Helps reduce insomnia
  • Muscle Relaxant

In the video Dr. Liptan mentions that CBD can come from marijuana, ou4 products are made from industrial hemp which doesn’t produce THC

Will this mess with my Meds??

“I CAN’T TAKE THIS, IT’S GONNA MESS WITH MY PRESCRIPTIONS” This is one of the most common statements we get when speaking with people in the public. The truth is it won’t mess with your meds, anymore than a grapefruit!!!

Hemp oil and in particular CBD is processed in the liver and affects enzyme cytochrome P-450 (CYP-450 ). CBD has the ability to inhibit CYP-450 from getting toxins out of your body. CBD isn’t the only natural compound that inhibits CYP-450 but so does GRAPEFRUIT!!!! CBD’s interaction with CYP-450 is much stronger than grapefruit; so if you’re interested in trying CBD but you’re curious as to how it will interact with medicines that you’re on, ask your doctor “can I eat grapefruit?” if they say yes, you’re good to go. Below are some of the most common types of medications that CBD will interact with

  • Steroids
  • HMG CoA reductase inhibitors
  • Calcium channel blockers
  • Antihistamines
  • Prokinetics
  • HIV Antivirals
  • Immune modulators
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Antiarrythmics
  • Antibiotics

They Not All Equal

In a recent conversation with another hemp store owner, he said “Sarge, a lot of these companies are cutting the hemp oil and going the pharmaceutical route!!!” He went on to explain that a lot of products that are on the market are being MASS PRODUCED and might not contain as much hemp oil as they claim. They do contain hemp oil, but it might only be 5- 20% hemp oil and the rest is some type of filler.

This is an issue that definitely is on our squad’s mind when we speak to different companies about carrying new products. We stopped carrying a national brand once it was discovered they were adding melatonin and synthetic cannabinoids in products. At the end of the day, we want to carry the highest quality hemp products for our customers not only for your health benefit, but we use these products as well. If it ain’t safe for us, it ain’t safe for you. Be careful out there when purchasing hemp products.

Steps you can take to ensure you have good products:
1) Check manufacturing (our hemp products come from America, we try to source from Colorado, Washington, Oregon and other states that have hemp programs)
2) Ask questions from retailer (if they have hemp products and can’t really tell you about them besides, “oh it helps you sleep” RUN!!!!)
3) Check out products before you go buy them (be a smart consumer)
4) Just buy from BattleBuds and our affiliated partners (we verify for you the safety and source of the product)
